Wow, and the Twain one, of which I could have sworn I read in his autobiography, this is what I found almost unanimously everywhere I looked:
“I’ve never wished a man dead, but I have read some obituaries with great pleasure.” – Mark Twain
Ever since Sunday, I have seen this quote attributed to Mark Twain. I’m unable to find an original source for it. One person claims it is not Twain at all, but a bastardization of a quote by Clarence Darrow.

DOH!!!! Oh the sweet internet… So the Mark Twain quote is a perversion of the Clarence Darrow quote, even though I specifically remember reading it in Twains book (I could swear I did anyway) and most of the Martin Luther King quote regarding loving one’s enemies is fake, except for that very last sentence. Such is life.
Still I think my original blog post still sums it up quite nicely. Basically that neither of these two pacifists witnessed the madness of a sustained terror campaign against our citizens, not armies, all over the world, and had either of them watched the bombings in London, the hundreds of dead in Spain, or yes even the 3000 dead Americans from 9.11 their pacifism would have been skewed ever so slightly.
They both lived in a time where MAD or Mutually Assured Destruction was a reliable deterrent to Weapons of Mass Destruction. With the rise of Jihad, and particular the rise of Osama Bin Laden to cult status and his multitude of faithful followers willing to die, for their theoretical piece of the imaginary 72 virgin pie, both Martin Luther King and Mark Twain would have supported taking that son of a bitch out. You see Mutually Assured Destruction means, if you kill me, I’ll kill you, and or your family, and it became particularly important once the ability to ignite the atmosphere of Earth with nuclear weapons became a stark reality sometime in the early 50’s, less than 10 years after the invention of the atom bomb. With that capability, and with Pakistan, who we OBVIOUSLY can not trust, slinging nukes around to the highest bidder, see Iran, and while you’re at it see “Iran Vows to Turn Isreal into a lake of fire, etc etc.” we could no longer sit idle while a madman like Osama bin Laden spewed his hate filled, cult figure message to the Arab world. MAD, or mutually assured destruction, no longer stopped these psycho paths, as was evident in the number of men who successfully completed their missions on 9.11, killing themselves, and planes filled with men, women and babies in order to crash into their targets as we all witnessed. There can be no doubt this same group of madmen, fueled by the enigmatic Osama Bin Laden would have strapped a nuke to their balls if need be, walked in to any christian church in the United States, and detonated it in the name of their perverted version of Allah, who supports the wholesale murder of “Infidels” or unbelievers.
If either MLK, or Twain had seen this movement of madness they would have allowed their conscience the flexibility to kill this one piece of shit who stood as the figurehead to this entire movement and with whoms death the entire mad movement could shrivel up and die. As the Middle East is in turmoil across all demographics today, their dead Jihadist leader, who failed to keep Iraq at war, who failed to overturn Afghanistan, or Pakistan, who lied to his own people and lived in luxury while sending drugged out opiate addicted foot soldiers into suicide mission after suicide mission in a kill ratio of 50-1, an unsustainable number, he lies dead somewhere in the ocean, his body being worked over by predators, and his failed campaigns of terror, a rotting carcass of failure to all his followers. I say it again, Fuck Osama Bin Laden, and fuck the pacifism that would have forced us to turn the other cheek while he amassed an arsenal of nuclear technology. Without our military, and the militant decision of both Bush and Obama to continue pursuing this piece of shit, instead of just turning our cheek, we very well could have seen a nuclear strike within the United States, or Western Europe, and then MAD would have happened, and I assure you we would have destroyed the entire Middle East.
